Specializing in the John Barnes Myofascial Release Approach

Abbe's Bio

 Abbe Mogell COTA, LMT, BCTMB

Expert Myofascial Release Practitioner

Abbe began her journey with myofascial release as a patient herself in 2009. She received individual treatment from various   therapists for acute shoulder pain, hip pain, and several past sports injuries. She saw the amazing results that were not   achieved through any other modalities, including relief and underlying understanding of anxiety and depression.

Fascinated with the improved health and well being she achieved by adding this missing piece to her health care— she attended the Healing Seminar in Sedona Arizona in 2010 where she made the decision to spend the next few years taking seminars and skill enhancement courses so that she could be an individual practitioner and assist others in achieving deep patterns of change and healing both on a physical and spiritual level.

Abbe has been practicing the John F. Barnes Approach since 2011. She graduated from Harcum College with an Associate of Science degree and Lansdale School of Business, Massage Therapy Division. She is a Board Certified and Licensed Massage therapist and Expert level John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Practitioner (JFB MFR). She trained at Harcum College in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program and completed practicums at Graduate Hospital in Hand Therapy and a Practicum at Devereaux with adults with dual-diagnosis and tertiary diagnosis in mental health care. She has also trained with Serge Kahili King in Hawaiian Shamanism. Her background includes an art education from Penn State University and Masters classes in Ceramic Arts, certifications in PTSD and Massage, medically frail, oncology and hospice massage. In 2020 Abbe completed a course in ACE training and a Youth Mental Health Certification course from Penn State University.

Abbe specializes in highly customized myofascial release programs combining her training in Barnes Myofascial Release, Therapeutic Touch (subtle energy work), John Upledger craniosacral technique,  and shaman training. She incorporates her background in hand therapy, inpatient and outpatient physical rehab, personal experience with challenges of single motherhood, divorce, and trauma to create a holistic approach to mind-body wellness and chronic pain relief.

She is a poet and photographer. Recently published, her photography is recognized in an online literary journal, where she was featured in their 2016 fall edition.
